What to look for

A tiny, greyish chipmunk with five dark stripes down the back and stripes through the eye, carrying its tail straight up as it runs.

Where

Forest edges, rock piles and campgrounds from the parkland to the mountains.

When

April to October.

Tips

Alberta's smallest and most widespread chipmunk. The yellow-pine chipmunk of the mountains is slightly larger and brighter orange.
