What to look for
A tiny black-and-white diving duck; the drake has a big white patch on the back of a glossy head.
Where
Lakes and rivers across the province; nests in tree cavities.
When
April to November; some winter on open rivers.
Tips
Smallest diving duck. Goldeneyes are bigger with a round white cheek spot instead.
